Friends,
We’re excited to announce the publication of Immigration Matters: Movements, Visions, and Strategies for a Progressive Future, available from The New Press, co-edited by Ruth Milkman, Penny Lewis, and Deepak.
We’re writing to you with a specific request: Please share information about the book on your social media accounts TODAY! You can share Deepak’s posts on Facebook, LinkedIn, or Twitter. Two suggested tweets are below, but adapt at will. An image with the book cover is attached, which can accompany your posts.

For Deepak, working on this project for the past year with his brilliant co-editors, Ruth Milkman and Penny Lewis, and all the amazing contributors has been a labor of love. It began with a virtual conference last spring hosted by CUNY’s School of Labor and Urban Studies. Now we are thrilled to share these important ideas and arguments with the world. It’s obvious that we need to do far more than undo the damage of the Trump years – we need visionary ideas and creative movement, organizing, and coalition strategies to make them real.
We are so humbled by the contributors who joined us on this journey: Daniel Altschuler, Deborah Axt, Mehrdad Azemun, Justin Gest, Marielena Hincapié, Pramila Jayapal, Cristina Jiménez Moreta, Amaha Kassa, Peter L. Markowitz, Eliseo Medina, Cecilia Muñoz, Mae Ngai, Adam Kruggel, Angelica Salas, Angeles Solis, Saket Soni, D. Taylor, and Javier H. Valdés.
In the months ahead, we intend to continue to discuss the book in events, interviews, and op-eds and to ensure that the ideas help reshape the national conversation on immigration. Please keep an eye out and join us if you can. We will keep this link updated with the latest news and information on upcoming events: https://linktr.ee/immigrationmatters
You can watch Harry’s 2-minute video trailer for the book here.
Thanks again for helping get the word out.
Deepak and Harry
P.S. Yesterday, the ever-brilliant Dorian Warren and Deepak published an op-ed in USA Today about why the fight to make the refundable child tax credit permanent is so critical to reduce poverty in America. Check it out!
